Self Portraits and Portraits

Tip #3: Use Both Auto and Manual Focus

A good practice to get into when you're taking self-portraits is to use a mix of auto and manual focus. First, focus on your stand-in object using auto focus. Then, with the object still in focus, switch your lens to manual focus.

Tip #5: Capture You

My last tip is to use the images below only loosely as inspiration. A self-portrait should be a very personal expression, not simply a mirror of something you've seen elsewhere. Think about who you want to be and how you want to say that. Use props, scenery, pose and lighting conditions to convey your personality. And most of all, have fun!

I really liked this photo because of the way they put the lens, and the angle makes it look really cool.
I really liked this photo because I love guitars, and because of the way it's lines up.

I like this picture because of the lighting and the way they took it. It looks pretty cool.
I like this photo because it's black and white so that makes it look nice. i picked it because it looked like  a normal photo shoot.

I
I like this picture because of the lighting and the black and white. I picked this photo because it is a good self portrait photo.

I like this photo because it looks awesome with her reflection on the door knob and you can see her room.

I will shoot with Danaly. We are going to shoot in the courtyard because of the good lighting to capture a great picture. I will use some Rules of Photography to get successful photos such as, Simplicity, Rule of Thirds, and Symmetry. I think those are the main rules I would use to get a great self portrait.

Mural Project Preview

1. A theme I would like to use is about sports. Because Akins football record hasn't been the best for the past couple of years, but now they're coming up and winning!

2. Because you have to be willing to be patient for those good photos to get captured! In football it's just a fast paced thing so you're not going to get some east shots.

3. In my opinion, there are no advantages in using a phone camera to capture a great picture. But some disadvantages are that phone cameras aren't as clear as cameras such as Cannon ones.

4. Overall a SLR camera is just so much better then a phone camera. It can focus better, capture pictures faster and makes them more clear.

5. We should use SLR cameras for this project because overall they will be better for shooting.

Academic Shoot Reflection

1. Some problems were that it would be hard to find like balanced out pictures. Or pictures for Rule of Thirds.

2. I thought about focusing the camera most of the time because it was like my 4th time using a camera like that and I usually use it on auto-focus.

3. In most of my photos that I took, I thought it was one rule, but noticed at least one other rule while looking at them.

4.  I would keep on practicing my manual focusing.

5. The easiest rule to achieve would be Simplicity.

6. The hardest to capture would have to be Rule of Thirds.

7. I'm still not so sure about Rule of Thirds. I can go to that website or ask Mr. Doerr.

Academics Shoot

Balance

1. I think I sort of followed the rule of Balance.
2. The subject is the person and the book. Because if you split it in half, it's symmetrical.
3. Yes, it's pretty clear.
4. I could have lined up his hands and the book to make it look more symmetrical.

Academic Shoot

Merger

1. I think I followed the rule of Mergers well.
2. The subject is the guy in the hat but the merger is the subject in the back ground.
3. No because of the distracting subject in the back ground.

Academics Shoot

Simplicity

1. I think I could of shot a better photo for the rule of Simplicity.
2. the subject is the girl standing in the middle of the photo
3. I think it's pretty clear what the subject is.
4. I could of made sure there was a clear back ground.

Academics Shoot

Rule ofThirds

1. I think I followed the rule very well.
2. The subject is the little black thing. It's caught in a spider web.
3. Yes it's very clear because of the plain back ground.
4. To make the rule look more clear I could of angled the black thing to be more to the side of the picture.

Academics Shoot

Framing

1. I sort of followed the rule of framing.
2. The subject is the 3 people smiling at the camera.
3. It's not so clear because there are other people in the back ground.
4. I could have got them more in the frame. I also could have made sure that there was no people in the back ground.

Academics Shoot

Lines

1. I think I followed the rule very well in this photo.
2. The subject is the strings on the guitar. They represent the lines.

Academics Photo Review

I think this photo tells the best story because people are gathered in a circle and it could be a memorial for someone that has passed or a special event.

I think this photo shows the best action or emotion because the girls reaction to the chemical shooting up frightened or surprised them.

I think this photo fills the picture and shows a lot of interesting things. All of the kids hands are in the
nitrogen.

1. I picked this photo because I like black and white. And it's so simple but it also looks cool.
2 Balance, and simplicity.

1.  I think I could take pictures like the ones I looked at today in a biology or chemistry class.
2.  I would like to visit the dance team, and also people playing music.
3. As a photographer, I would use my body to get position to make the picture look exquisite.

Mergers

I chose this photo because the pointy building looks like it's coming out of a tree causing the two to look like they're merging.

Balance

I chose this photo because one half is dark and one half is lighter. And also there are buildings on both sides of the streets.

Lines

I chose this pictures the lines behind the falling man show more dynamic contrast and line up with him.

Rule of Thirds

I chose this photo because it's dark in mainly all areas except in the top left where the American flag is and it makes it pop out more.

Framing

I chose this photo because the faces of the fallen people are surrounding the the man.

Simplicity

I chose this photo because it's a perfect view of the Twin Towers. There is a plain background which is making the towers stand out.

First photos, best & worst

Best photo!

I chose this photo as the best because I like the outdoors and I enjoy nature.

Worst photo!

I think this one is the worst because it's kind of plain and the surroundings aren't so good.
